Translating a mobile navigation app to a car infotainment system is more fun than it looks.
First, there are up to three screens with which to play: the head unit in the center console, the instrument cluster and sometimes a heads up display (HUD). Then there are different resolutions depending on the system and vehicle. Heck, the instrument cluster can sometimes be a huge screen. Finally, there’s all the stuff the car knows about itself, things like: the current gas or charge level, how many people are in the car, and the entire history of where a car has been during its life.
